Abraham senior was a member of the first band, named Los Dinos. Selena Y Los Dinos was officially formed in 1981. This band was the Quintanilla family's primary business venture and source of income. The Quintanilla Family was determined to succeed despite the hard times and a insufficient funds at first. Their patience would eventually pay back in the mid 1980's as Selena Y Los Dinos gained notoriety in the western states. Selena's first success came in the year 1986, when she was awarded awards as Female Vocalist of The Year and Performer Of the Year at Tejano music Awards. Selena Y Los Dinos continued to receive awards of Tejano music awards, and they gained notoriety and fame. They've been featured in a number of Spanish TV shows, including El Show De Johnny Canales - Siempre En Domingo, and Sabado Gigante.
